First Lady Stuns in Ivory Design at White House State Dinner

The First Lady continues to stun us with O.M.FLOTUS moments. And the recent state dinner honoring Singapore’s prime minister and his wife was no exception.

Michelle Obama wowed in an ivory gown custom made by Brandon MAxwell. The a-line silhouette was sharp and perfectly posh with modern elements to the bustline. The subtle pencil skirt fitted the tastefully tailored design.

Maxwell tells WWD via e-mail:

“It has been an incredible honor for me and my team to create this dress for the First Lady. Strong and elegant, she is the embodiment of the woman that inspires me to create, and a role model for women all over the world.”

The state dinner this past Tuesday was supposed to celebrate the U.S. and Singapore’s 50 years of diplomatic relations. This amiable partnership has led over 3,500 U.S. companies to plant satellite locations in Singapore, thus fostering a global connection between nations through commerce and corporate relations.

The White House made a special note of the future endeavors for the two countries, as their relationship continues to prosper:

“[The bond has led to] strong security ties between our militaries, and led to increased exchanges of college students. As partners in the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, the Counter-ISIL coalition, and the Paris Climate agreement, the two leaders will discuss how our relationship can continue to address international challenges and advance a rules-based order for the Asia-Pacific.”

As both country’s signature florals graced the dining room table, the two nations and their citizens saw a glimmering light in otherwise dark times. Standing at the forefront in her hopeful ivory, the First Lady embodied the bright future that stands before us. And it’s a fashionable one, at that.

Hailing from Ewing, I'm a Jersey girl through and through meaning endless bagels and constantly defending the state from the stereotypes of Snooki and the rest of the Jersey Shore cast. I love the red carpet of any and all award shows and shamelessly indulge in Fashion Police the next day with an even greater intrigue. I'm an avid Netflix binge-watcher, but could also be perfectly content traveling around Europe with a few of the classics and a map in my bag.
