“Young girls and even young women…[see me] and say ‘hey, if she can do it so can I,” Brewer, who has also worked as an advocate for people with intellectual disabilities, told Today. “It’s a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to [encourage them] in being who they are and showing who they are.”

Brewer is part of Carrie Hammer’s “Role Models Not Runway Models,” campaign. The campaign is designed to inspire women from all stretches of life to redefine beauty.

“I called up my existing clients who were all incredible women and one of them happened to be a doctor and a sex therapist who happened to be in wheelchair,” Hammer told “It was never intended to be this incredible statement.”

Hammer received an inspiring email from the Co-Founder of “Changing the Face of Beauty,” Katie Driscoll, that is a non-prophet organization that encourages the media to include those with disabilities. Driscoll asked if Hammer could include a model with Down syndrome so her daughter grace that also has Down syndrome could have a role model as well.

“I explained to her how important it is for my daughter to have role models like [Brewer] to see that [anything] is possible,” says Driscoll.

Brewer and fellow models part of the, “Role Models Not Runway Models,” are a true inspiration, not only for those with disabilities, but also for all women. The idea of changing the idea of beauty has been a massive dilemma for years and it’s wonderful to finally see that there are those willing to take a stand to redefine beauty.

“It’s amazing, it’s really neat. Many women have many sides to their personality, this dress fits…mine,” states Brewer. “I am honored to be in it.”

If you combine the personalities of Hermione Granger and Lucy Pevensie, you’ll have me, a clever, lively, go-getter, determined to make it in the world of writers. I earned my Bachelors degree in English at Montclair State University and have studied film and screenplay in London England. On the side, I’ve begun a 5-book fantasy novel series, which I am currently in the process of pitching to editors. When I have a free moment, I enjoy spending time with my family, dancing and most recently, horseback riding.
