There are so many diets in the world, some are incredibly crazy and claim to do magical things for your health. The key to a healthy lifestyle is just that, a lifestyle. Your life, your body, and the way you feel are not going to change overnight. So let’s chuck the diet notion and look into some lifestyle changes. The most important thing to remember is that jumping into a new lifestyle head first is not easy, gradual changes are best. Also, it’s important to choose a lifestyle that is right for you. Are you a meat eater but want to eat cleaner? Want to give up meat, but keep seafood as your protein? Or are you prepared to give up all meat, dairy, and seafood? I’ve provided 3 food lifestyles for you to explore and consider.

  1. The Paleolithic Diet

    1. The Paleolithic Diet, also known as the Paleo Diet has been featured plenty of times on the Dr. Oz show. The Paleolithic diet is a nutritional plan based on the presumed diet of Paleolithic humans. The diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, eggs, vegetables, fruit, fungi, roots, and nuts. It excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, refined salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.  The Paleolithic Diet is said to have shown improved health outcomes in humans due to the consumption of foods that existed before the chronic illnesses and diseases that are epidemic in Western populations.

  2. Pescetarianism

    1. A Pescatarian diet, also known as Pescetarianism is the practice of following a diet that involves the consumption of fish and other seafood, but not the flesh of other animals. There are many different reasons why people chose a Pescetarian lifestyle, like any other diet. Perhaps they want to become vegetarian but are not ready for the complete commitment. The most common cited reason is health reasons from those wishing to stay away from the saturated fats contained in red meats.

  3. Veganism

    1. Veganism, also known as a Vegan diet is like a vegetarian diet except Vegans abstain from the consumption of any animal products.  Veganism can be viewed as a moral philosophy lifestyle, because most vegans are against the consumption of animals, these individuals are referred to as Ethical Vegans. Dietary Vegans are those who eat like vegans but are not dedicated to the moral lifestyle. Veganism is picking up more lately as a fad diet that people use to lose weight quickly. The vegan diet is said to help shed pounds and fend off chronic diseases, hence why it is becoming more popular among those looking to lose weight fast.

So we’ve explored 3 different diets all selling the same thing, a healthier life. The most important thing for one to think about is what kind of lifestyle they can and want to live. What do you want to hold on to? And what do you want to give up? You decide.
