Zac Posen makes femininity fun in his 2014 resort collection.

With the start of summer approaching, every designer is releasing their resort wear, and Posen’s was not a disappointment.

The show was held in Posen’s studio in TriBeCa, with artists like Carole King’s “Beautiful” playing in the background.  “At the risk of sounding corny or overly sentimental, it must be said that these were fitting words,” Vogue said.

The colors ranged from pale pinks to metallic blues, but with the synched waists and ruffles all the outfits exuded femininity. The gowns are meant to flatter different body types, as they ranged from different sizes and shapes.

“ You want to support balanced with an ease of blousiness. That’s how women dress today,” Posen told Vogue. Some of the dresses were loose and draped off of the model’s body’s. Others were clearly inspired by peplum tops, making them diverse and good for a wide range of body types. Although the designer is commonly known for his elegant eveningwear, these looks are more tone downed for him than they have been in the past; it seems that he’s trying to break from the mold.

One of the biggest surprises of the night were mother and daughter models Anna and Pat Cleveland who wore different dresses with the same pattern which displayed the diversity of the line.

Posen said that his collection ranges from luxurious to everyday wear. The combination of patterns and textures make this clear.
