Zayn Malik, the former One Direction member, is currently trying to develop a new scripted series for NBC that is inspired by his own experiences in the popular boy band.
“Boys”, the new drama series, is set to also have famous NBC producer Dick Wolf and his wife Noelle Wolf help develop the One Direction inspired series. Dick Wolf is known for being a creator and executive producer for the Law and Order franchise. Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin, who are known as co-creators for the CW’s Beauty and the Beast series, will a part of the new project as writers.
The new show “Boys” is set to follow the creation of a popular boy band and will also depict how these characters’ deal with instantaneous fame. “Boys” will also take an inside look on how these boy band members will deal with the pressures of a competitive music industry and societal pressures.
Zayn Malik has recently commented to the press that he is really excited to work with the legendary producer Dick Wolf and NBC to develop a new series. He also commented that he hopes that with the NBC team, the series will be a compelling drama viewers will love to watch.
Noelle Wolf pitched the project to NBC with Unigram’s Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and First Access Entertainment’s Sarah Stennett at her side. Stennett will act as an executive music producer and is also expected to manage all the music rights associated from the songs that will be created for the new show. Executive producers include both Dick and Noelle Wolf, Zayn Malik, Amanda Ghost, Cooper Landsman, Peter Jankowski, and Jennifer Levin. Gregor Cameron is also set to be the show’s co-executive producer.
When the press asked Noelle Wolf about her work on the new NBC show, she commented that she is excited to be a part of a project that so many producers are passionate about and is also thrilled to have a unique point of view from Malik’s time with One Direction.
“Boys” is set to be Dick Wolf’s sixth scripted series with NBC and now also has four series on the network’s slate.
