Since word hit the public about the Biopic movie of the late Aaliyah from Lifetime, many rumors have been floating around. Rumors such as who would be auditioning for the lead role of the beloved Aaliyah. There were talks of Solange Knowles and even statements that Rihanna was eying the role. When Zendaya Coleman confirmed her casting of the role through twitter and 106 & Park on BET, there were mixed emotions.
However, the latest chatter around town is that the production has lost lead role actress Zendaya. A statement was released from a rep to the Daily News, stating that she will no longer be apart of the production.
She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her

Heavy speculation of the fact that Lifetime was pursuing a film that Aaliyah’s family did not approve of. The movie was said to be based off the book about her, ‘More than a Woman,’ written by Christopher John Farley. Fans were touched by the book, but that’s as far as it goes for support from Aaliyah’s family. There seemed to be a problem receiving the rights to Aaliyah’s music and also personal information being disclosed about her private life. Would her age altered marriage certificate to R.Kelly have anything to do with it? As far as anyone knows, the project will be pushed back and hopefully be able to actually start production with a new leading actress.
We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.
