Paris Welcomes Michael Cinco to 2016 Couture Week

Michael Cinco has made his debut at Paris Couture Week, becoming the first Filipino designer in history to show his designs at the highly exclusive event.

Presented by the Asian Couture Federation, the Dubai-based designer showed both his haute couture collection and a couture inspired ready-to-wear line for Couturissimo, an online company that seeks to bring high fashion to consumers by making it at ready-to-wear prices. Couturissimo follows the more recent see-now-buy-now approach to fashion, unlike traditional couture which is made on an individual basis.

The show took place in Paris’ Jardin des Tuileries, whose flowers inspired the elegant and dainty embroidery found on many of Cinco’s dresses, which he described as an “homage to the beauty of nature.”

The stunning embroidery offered details of delicate butterflies and flowers as it also paid homage to Cinco’s Filipino culture through the use of a Filipino weaving technique and barong inspired dresses. Cinco’s signature flared skirts with undulating hemlines were also featured in the collection.

Known for his dramatic, modern dresses, Michael Cinco is also fabulous at creating classic looks. He is most famous for his haute couture and wedding dresses, and many celebrities, such as Beyonce, have been clients.

Cinco was honored to be invited to Paris Couture Week, as the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne does not invite new or foreign designers to show their collections very often. Cinco said of the experience, “Paris is the center of fashion and it’s the ultimate dream of every designer to show there. It has been mine since I started my career. I can’t believe that the federation chose me for their first ever show there. This is such a big honor for me.”

Overall, the show did not disappoint, and after this amazing opportunity, it is certain that Michael Cinco will only continue to rise in the fashion world.
