Liam Payne Says to #WearAsManyClothesAsYouCanAtOnceFor1D

After Twitter exploded from all of the tweets surrounding Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking, Liam Payne created the hashtag to distract from the attention: #WearAsManyClothesAsYouCanAtOnceFor1D.

Fans are notorious for doing things in order to support their favorite celebrities, especially when controversy is surrounding them. The Directioners, what 1-D Fans call themselves, are no different.

Along with hashtags like “#Zaynandloussmoking”, there were some less than pleasant ones that began to circulate as well, such as “#cutfor1D”. This was created over the recent video released of two of the bad members smoking in a van.

In order to deflect from these, Payne decided to start a safer and more positive trend that would encourage fans to continue to support them. The tweet said, “Today is such a weird day why don’t we do a @wearahoodyfor1d or a #WearAsManyClothesAsYouCanAtOnceFor1D”. In just nine hours, it became a worldwide trending topic, and received 90k retweets.

Payne has been the only member of the popular boy band to make any reference on Twitter so far as to the content of the video spreading around, the others have either not tweeted since the release, or have only spoken to fans about their concert tonight.

Fans tweeted photos at Payne, Malik, and Tomlinson, even though Payne was the only one involved with the creation of the tweet, showing off themselves and others in numerous layers of clothing.

The hashtag also had a counterpart started by its fans,”#skinfor1D”. This encouraged fans to do the opposite of what Payne originally set out to do.

Regardless of what had been in the video, and what this “weird day” brought for the band, their fans are standing strong behind the band.
